Higashi, a Japanese tourist, visited a restaurant and was served cold leftovers by Andy, a corrupt waiter. Andy took advantage of Higashi’s limited English and planned to rob him, but Louise, a new waitress, hesitated. Andy pressured her to serve the leftovers, claiming the customer wouldn’t know. When Higashi noticed the meal was wrong, Andy intervened, making racist remarks and forcing him to stay.
As Higashi prepared to leave, Andy spotted a large sum of money in his wallet. He manipulated the situation, promising a “better meal” while secretly stealing cash from Higashi’s overcoat. Louise, feeling guilty, eventually intervened, returning the money to Higashi, but Andy lied to the police, accusing her of theft.
Higashi, who spoke fluent English, revealed his true identity as a journalist. He exposed Andy as the thief, using marked bills as proof. The officer arrested Andy, and Louise’s honesty led to a job offer from Higashi’s company as a reward.
