My Mom Forbade Me from Seeing My Dad, but Everything Changed after His Call

My mother did everything to keep me from seeing my father after their divorce. When I was two, he left after a big fight, and I didn’t see him for years. As I grew older, I realized my mom was preventing me from visiting him. Despite my pleas, she insisted he had moved on with his new family and didn’t want me. When I tried to visit him as a teenager, she called the cops and threatened to accuse him of kidnapping.

Our relationship grew strained, and by 17, I resented her. I moved out at 18 and lost touch with her. Though Dad and I stayed in contact, life kept us busy, and our meetings felt awkward. Years passed, and at 29, Mom called, wanting to reconnect. However, she refused to apologize, so I ended the conversation.

A year later, Dad called urgently, asking me to meet him. The “emergency” turned out to be an amusement park trip to make up for lost time. We spent the day bonding, and he encouraged me to forgive Mom. Afterward, I called her, expressing my feelings. She finally apologized, and we began rebuilding our relationship.
