My sister and I spent a peaceful week by the coast as summer was coming to an end. The tourist crowds had disappeared, the shoreline was calm, and the relaxed atmosphere felt like a much needed break. One evening, while sitting at a cozy café overlooking the water and watching the sunset, I met a man who felt oddly familiar the moment he joined me.
He was younger than me, yet conversation came naturally between us. We spoke about life, ambitions, and the kind of personal thoughts people don’t usually share with someone they’ve just met. I was upfront from the start, telling him that I was married and not searching for anything serious. He smiled and replied that he simply wanted to enjoy the moments we shared.
For several days, I felt a spark of happiness I hadn’t experienced in a long time. We strolled along the beach, laughed together, and created memories that felt almost unreal. Then, when it was finally time to go home, we said goodbye without exchanging phone numbers or making any plans to stay in touch.

I believed our short-lived connection would stay exactly where it belonged, as a distant memory from a seaside getaway.
But everything changed the moment I returned home.
My daughter ran to welcome me back, excited to introduce me to someone special.
“Mom, this is my fiancé,” she said with a bright smile.
The second I looked up, the world seemed to stop.
My breath caught in my throat.
Standing in front of me was the man I had spent those unforgettable days with by the beach.
The very same man.
